Troyan is a city in Lovech district, Central Northern Bulgaria. It is the administrative and economic center of the Troyan municipality of the same name. The population of the city as of 2021 is 17,667 inhabitants,[2][3] which ranks it second in the district.
According to GRAO data, as of June 15, 2023, 20,245 people live in the city at a current address and 22,563 people at a permanent address.[4]
Geography
Troyan is located in a mountainous area. It is located in the valley of the Osam River, at the confluence of the rivers Beli Osam and Cherni Osam, which form it, at the foot of the Troyan-Kalofer division of the Stara Planina. It is located 155 km from the capital Sofia, 120 km from Plovdiv, 319 km from Varna, 313 km from Burgas, 70 km from Pleven and 35 km from the regional center Lovech.
