Gorna Oryahovitsa (spelling until 1945: Gorna Orѣhovitsa) is a town in Veliko Tarnovo District, Central Northern Bulgaria.
It is located along the river Yantra, in close proximity to the regional center Veliko Tarnovo. The lowest point of the city is located on the banks of the Yantra River and has an altitude of 92 m, while the highest point is the Kamaka Plateau, with an altitude of 412 m. The city is located at the northern foot of the Tarnovské Heights, having the shape of a huge horseshoe, open to the east. The heights are cut by the gorge of the Yantra river, called the Derwent. To the west of it is the Belyakovsko plateau, and to the east remain the Kamaka and the Arbanash plateau.
