Gabrovo is a city in central Bulgaria, the administrative and economic center of the Gabrovo municipality and Gabrovo district of the same name. It is located along the Yantra River in the northern foothills of the Shipchen region of Stara planina.
In the immediate vicinity of it, in the area of Uzana, is the geographical center of Bulgaria. According to the latest NSI data, as of September 7, 2021, the population of Gabrovo is 45,940 people.[2][3][4]
According to GRAO data, as of June 15, 2023, 51,941 people live in the city with a current address and 59,908 people with a permanent address.[5] The people of Gabrovo are known for their love of humor (see Gabrovo jokes), for their annual humorous carnival of humor and satire, for their mechanical engineering, for their numerous monuments and bridges, and for their long streets.
Gabrovo is the longest town in Bulgaria with its 25 km from the Yablka quarter to the Smirnenski dam.[6]
